This guide is created to help quickly resolve common issues with the game client and launcher​

Here are the most frequent errors players encounter, along with proven solutions.

For convenience, there is a menu with sections, and clicking each item will take the player to a brief description of the issue and a step-by-step solution.
It is recommended to follow the instructions in the specified order — this will resolve most issues without contacting technical support.

Important: Contact technical support only if the player does not find a solution in this topic.

Critical error. The Option.ini file is missing or corrupted.​

Solution:

1. Open the launcher and click Update.
2. If the launcher does not work, ask friends or an admin for a working Option.ini file.

Error: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library​

In this case, there are 2 possible issues.

First issue -
The path contains Cyrillic characters.
Solution:
If the path contains Cyrillic characters, you need to rename the client folder using only Latin characters.

Second issue - Missing libraries.
Solution:
If after this, when launching L2.exe, you receive the error "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll / VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found" — update some Windows components:

Error: Cannot run in this locale​

Description:
When launching the client, nothing happens, there are no errors, and the client simply does not start, or an LCID error appears: cannot run in this locale

Solution:
  • Open: "Control Panel" -> "All Control Panel Items" -> "Language".
  • Select the "Change date, time, or number formats" section.
  • In the window that opens, select the "Administrative" tab.
  • Check the value of the "Language for non-Unicode programs" option.
  • If it differs from "Language: Russian", set it to this value.
  • Also check that the system date and time are set correctly.
  • After completing all steps - restart your computer.

Error: Active Anticheat Service. Unable to run the game in a virtual machine​

Unable to run the game in a virtual machine 0x14(0)!
Perhaps Windows is running in Hyper-V virtual machine mode.
Click "Yes" and Active Anticheat will disable this mode for
you, then restart your PC.
Otherwise, perform the following steps:
hypervisorlaunchtype off
1. Run cmd.exe as Administrator.
2. Execute the command "Bcdedit.exe /set hypervisorlaunchtype off"
3. Restart your PC.



Issue with AA. The client will not launch from a virtual machine.
Occurs when Hyper-V is activated in Windows.

As far as I remember, the solution is to disable virtual machines in Windows.

The solution needs to be clarified.

The client was downloaded incorrectly or the files are damaged.

Solution:
  • Use the launcher to perform a Full Check/Download, then Update.
  • It is important that no errors occur during the update process.
  • If the update does not help, you can try downloading the client from scratch into a new folder.
*This issue can also occur when installing custom patches.


The third error variant occurs if you update the Scryde client using our launcher — this is evident from the error text.

Solution:
  • Install the client from scratch.

When trying to launch multiple windows at once, only one launches​

I haven't been able to launch 5 windows for a few minutes now. It launches one, but the rest don't. What could be the problem?

I regularly encounter this issue, sometimes it launches 5 without any problem

Error text:
PostStart2 error: Unknown error during game launch
(308)


This error is definitely related to the player trying to launch several windows at once, usually 5.
The exact cause is unclear, but it is most likely related to insufficient computer resources or internet issues (packets are being lost or not arriving on time).

Solution:
Launch fewer windows.

Why is the player experiencing problems?
— The player resides in the territory of Russia and uses internet from Russian providers.
Roskomnadzor (hereinafter referred to as RKN) blocks proxy servers (or rather, forces providers located in the territory of Russia who are subject to Russian laws to do so) through which access to the game server is carried out.

Why does RKN do this?
— Because network software that hides and redirects traffic (VPN/Proxy/Etc) is blocked in accordance with the relevant resolution.

Why do we need proxy servers?
— They are needed to hide the address and other data about the actual game server, because, firstly, it is related to security: a server whose address is known is highly vulnerable to any attacks. Secondly, if RKN blocks the game server rather than the proxy server, the server will become unavailable — for everyone. Proxies also help by allowing players from different parts of the world to access the game. Therefore, we have proxies for all locations: for central Russia, separately for Europe, and separately for the Far East.

Why can't we move the game server to Russia so that RKN doesn't block proxy servers?
— Firstly, in that case, access would become impossible for all other regions. Secondly, because we are not the copyright holder of the Lineage II trademark and all its components.

What options do we have?
— We are studying statistics of player problems in order to deploy new proxies — https://t.me/la2era_official/325649
Since we cannot create a separate proxy for each city (with 4-5 providers each), we are looking for the most universal options.

What options do you have?
— Use a VPN.
Not every VPN can help. They, like proxies, are also subject to blocking. Some providers may find VPNs effective that were ineffective for others, and vice versa. Here are some well-known VPNs: free — PlanetVPN, ZoogVPN, paid — VPNGame.

Additionally:
— Sometimes problems disappear on their own, as suddenly as they appeared. If you use a VPN, do not forget to periodically check the possibility of connecting to the server the normal way — without a VPN.

Adding the game client folder to antivirus exclusions​


With the release of updates, the game client may sometimes flag new files. In this case, after updating, launching the game may be accompanied by errors:

To solve the problem, you need to add the game client folder to antivirus exclusions:

First, right-click on the Start button
and go to Settings.

*you can simply press the win + i combination

Note! The visuals may differ depending on your version of Windows.

Next, follow the examples in the screenshots.

In Settings, you need to find the section:
  • Update & Security

Find the line - Windows Security and go to:
  • Virus & threat protection

In the window that opens, we are interested in the section - Virus & threat protection settings. Go to:
  • Manage settings

Scroll down until you find the section - Exclusions. Click:

Use only English letters.

High Five. Load error: Driver installation error​

After a Windows update, when launching the High Five client (for users with Windows 11 x64), Active Anticheat gives an error.

Solution:

Temporarily disable your antivirus.
Adding the files that the antivirus blocks during client installation to exclusions may help.

If that doesn't help:

Locate the Windows update KB5083631 and remove it from your computer.

High Five. Cannot run in a virtual machine​

Solution:

Window: AGP is deactivated​

This is just an informational error indicating that the client is running using the integrated graphics card.

Solution:
If there is no dedicated GPU in the computer/laptop, just click OK and carry on.
If there is one, you first need to troubleshoot the video drivers.
Then look into which graphics adapter the client is using, but usually if the drivers are installed correctly, everything will work as is.

I entered my login and password, but the loading window does not disappear​

If it's just one person - some local connection issues.

Unable to log in to a character. Other characters (including on the same account) load fine.​

The problem occurs at the stage when the character appears in the game world, after entering the game.
The client does not freeze, but at the same time the character does not load; the player can log in to other characters, even on the same account, but this specific character simply does not load.

Solution:
Perform a full file check via the launcher, followed by an update.

High Five. Client closes after entering login and password​

If you attempt to enter an incorrect login and password 3 times — the client on the HF x3 server closes.

Please pay attention to what data you enter in the field. The master account login and password will not work.


Solution:

You need to create a game account in your personal account.

Character does not move, window appears "You have been disconnected from the server"​

The player has logged into the game, but the character does not move, the panels and chat are empty, and after a while they get disconnected.

Solution:
Try logging in through a different proxy.
(This selection is made immediately after entering your login and password.)

Do not click through multiple proxies.

Entered your login/password?
— Select 1 proxy server with 1 click, and press "Login".
Didn't work?
— Go back to the login/password screen, log in again.
Select a different proxy server with 1 click and press "Login".

❗️ If you click on all the proxy servers in one go, you will not be able to connect through any of them.
